Moving your master telephone socket

NTE5 Master Phone Sockets

One of the most frequent requests that we receive from customers is to ask us to relocate their main master phone socket to a more practical and functional position within their home.

It is always preferable to have your broadband router plugged into the master phone socket in order to achieve the optimum broadband speed. However, frequently the main socket is not in the best location in your home. In older homes, it is common for there not to be a mains electrical socket adjacent to the phone socket to power the router.

So if you have one of the four common master sockets (shown above) in your home that’s in the wrong place then just give us a call, we can relocate it to wherever you wish. If your master socket is slightly older it may have the BT logo, instead of the Openreach logo.

Alternatively, if you live in an old property that hasn’t had the master phone socket upgraded since the eighties, you may even have one of the original LJU2 master sockets that didn’t have a removable faceplate. If this is the case, don’t worry, we can fit you a brand new modern NTE5C master socket, which has a detachable faceplate to enable you isolate the internal phone wiring, for troubleshooting any problem
