The issue
We were called out to assist the Cake Box in Bearwood with their WiFi and broadband issues. Their only telephone socket was located at the very rear of the premises where the phone line came in to the property, this was therefore the only place that their broadband router could go.
However, all their IT equipment, such as computers, tablets, card terminal etc were in the front of the shop where the WiFi was very poor. As well as the property being long and narrow, they had a large metal walk-in cooler which badly attenuated the wireless signal.
Our solution
We were able to run a new telephone cable across the top of the cooler and across the top of the suspended ceiling down into the shop at the front and install the telephone socket. The router was then moved from the back and the hard wired equipment was plugged in to it. The WiFi coverage in the areas that matters was greatly improved.
