Telephone Wiring
We were asked by a school in the Tamworth area to quote for two jobs. The first quote was to replace their Panasonic KX-T206 telephone system which had outgrown their requirements. The school was also having all their windows and frames replaced, in many cases, particularly in the main office adjacent to the location of the phone system, many telephone cables passed through the window frames.
We were pleased to hear that our quotations for both projects had been accepted and began work on the first project during the school holidays.

We began by fitting a new connection box and rerouted all the cables that originally came through the window frame from the outside through a hole drilled into the wall with a new box connection. New multi-pair cables were then ran down the wall in white uPVC trunking to the box connection adjacent to the phone system. There were other windows frames through out the school were we had to reroute the cables through the wall.
Telephone System
The second project was to remove the old telephone system and replace it with a new Panasonic KX-NS700 telephone system. In total the school required twelve extensions dispersed around the building, with some we were able to utilise the existing wiring, with other extensions it was necessary for us to install external grade cables on the outside of the building or over the flat roofs.

After we had completed all the cable runs and terminations we turned to programming the phone system. Features included auto-attendant to direct calls to the right department, general voicemail for the main office and a dedicated voicemail for parents to leave notification of absence messages and ‘walking class of service’. This was implemented on the extensions that were located in the areas of the school that pupils had access to, barring any outgoing calls (other than emergency calls) without entering a PIN code.
